SUMMARY

According to St. Thomas Aquinas, education is the advancement of the person to the perfect state of person in the context of virtue. Education is a vehicle or tool which helps in cultivating and improving what we have learned in our homes. In fact, education sustains and adds more meaningful and more rational ideas for us to become more cultured and refined individual. Education is change, education is life.

But with the existence of technology, education becomes more powerful and effective. It enhances the teaching-learning process and helps in facilitating learning. It also makes the learning an active process. Through technology, it improves the student's performance inside the classroom and widens the creativity of the students, heightens their higher order thinking skills, and helps them discover and create meaningful ideas based on what they have read, heard and seen. Educational technology, in addition, consists of reliable techniques or methods that engage in the teaching-learning process such as cognitive learning strategies and critical thinking skills or the so-called HOTS (Higher Order Thinking Skills.)

EVALUATION
The lesson I love most is Lesson 6: Using and Evaluating Materials.
To ensure effective learning, we should always consider the following guides:

P-prepare yourself
P-prepare your student
P-present the material
F-follow up

Before we enter the classroom, we must be prepare and ready with the materials as well with the lesson. We should be systematic with the educational instructions so that educational objective will be attain. First, prepare yourself. A teacher should have the mastery of the subject matter. He/she should have a wide reservoir of knowledge. He/she knows how to facilitate learning. To do this, he/she should define the objective, choose appropriate materials or methods, choose appropriate experiences, and select materials, equipments and facilities. These strategies will ensure an effective and efficient learning. Secondly, we should prepare our students. Before we begin the discussion, let us start with a motivation or energizer to unlock the difficulties and gain the students confidence and interests. Set class and expectations and learning ends. Third, present the material. Take note, in presenting the materials, it must be appropriate with the age, intelligence, and experience of your students. Also, your materials also contribute meaningful content to the topic under study. It should also help students in constructing new concept and ideas. And lastly, follow up. It is very important to ask questions or administer tests so that you will know if your students learn or not. Asking questions or feed backs is very helpful to the teachers so that remedial measures or actions will be implement immediately.

APPLICATION

As a future teacher, it is effective to have technology as a part of the learning process. But using technology entails a lot of knowledge and mastery so that it will be very useful not only to the teachers but also a blessing to the students. Let us engage our learner in a learning that is different from the past, an active learning. With these technologies, particularly video, computer, audio visual power point, OHP, and even instructional materials provides a vast learning and new experience to the students.

Lesson 9 Teaching with Dramatized Experiences

Wednesday, February 3, 2010 at 5:50 AM
The lesson focuses on the importance of dramatizing in the teaching-learning process. Dramatized experiences leave an emotional impact to our students in a way that if our discussion is to motivated and inspire them. Using the different types of dramatization such as role-playing, pageants, tableau, pantomine, puppets, and games, our students get attracted, interested, and affected. Let us always put in our mind that our objective is to help our students attain the total learning and to help them develop their personality.

Lesson 8 Teaching with Contrived Experiences

at 3:17 AM
This lesson is all about how contrive experiences contributes to the teaching-learning process. Contrive experiences are miniature or edited copies of real-life situations used as a substitute in real things if it is not feasible to bring or do inside the classroom. These includes model, mock-ups, simulation, specimen, and games.

Contrive experiences aim to overcome limitation of space and time, edit reality for us to be able to focus on parts of a system that we intend to study, overcome difficulties of size, understand inaccessible, and help learner understand abstractions.

Lesson 7 Direct Purposeful Experiences

at 3:11 AM

According to Dale's Cone of Experience, direct purposeful experiences have great impact in the teaching-learning process. It leaves a big marks to student's learning. Direct purposeful experiences are firsthand experiences which are the foundation of learning. They are very rich experiences that are being perceived by our senses and used in constructing ideas and concepts. Its implication to the teaching-learning process is to give student our students opportunities to learn by doing. Let us immerse our students in the world of experience. Another is let us make use of real things as instructional materials for as long as we can. Let us also help the students develop the five senses to heighten their sensitivity to the world. And lastly we should also guide our students so that they can draw meaning from their firsthand experiences and to elevate their level of thinking.

The teacher should not only stuck to the concrete but rather bring up the students to higher level of generalization, abstraction and higher level of thinking process.

Lesson 6 Using and Evaluating IMs

at 2:47 AM

This lesson focuses on the instructional materials that are engage in learning. Models of facilitating learning consists of establishing learning objective, assessing learner's entry capabilities, designing, selecting, implementing learning activities and evaluating progress toward learning objectives.

Using appropriate instructional materials, methods, and experiences as well as learning instructions - directly or indirectly will help the student in the learning process. Concrete and abstract materials help students design and create meaningful ideas to improve their creativity and higher thinking skills.

To ensure effective teaching, teacher should prepare himself, prepare his students, present the material, and follow-up or solicit feed backs from his students if learning objectives are attained or not. Prepare yourself, be prepare and have the mastery of your subject matter. Prepare your student by unlocking their difficulties by motivating them using activities which will encourage them to participate in the class and establish good relationship between teacher and the student. Present the materials. Materials should be appropriate and suitable for the learner's educational needs. follow-up or solicit feed backs is one way of knowing if your student learn or not. Evaluation helps both teacher and the student in a way that the teacher can make some adjustments if the students have difficulty in the lesson and do appropriate remedial measures or actions if necessary.
